For Kelly, co-owner and manager of Nextra Gympie News, the most touching part of running
a business is building real connections. “Sometimes people come in just for a chat rather
than to buy something,” Kelly says. “That’s the sort of community we’ve built here.”
Kelly’s journey with the store started early. “I began here as a 14-year-old junior,” she
explains. “When the opportunity came up to buy the business, we felt it was the right time to
step away from our previous jobs and do something on our own accord.”
Gympie Central is a community that Kelly describes as being defined by its people. “From
our team to our customers and neighbouring businesses, we’ve formed a strong sense of
community,” she says. “We’ve built genuine relationships with other stores and their staff,
which really adds to the atmosphere.”
While still offering all the staples of a traditional newsagency - newspapers, magazines,
greeting cards, and lotto - Nextra Gympie News has expanded its range. “We now stock a
variety of gift items, specialty stationery, and homewares,” says Kelly. “We’re always
evolving. We adjust with seasonal events and trends, and I think that’s what sets us apart
from other news agencies.”
Whether you're after a thoughtful gift, a stationery top-up or just a friendly chat, you'll find a
warm welcome at Nextra Gympie News. Come see what’s new - they’re always adding
something special.
